I grew up in the small Town of Shelburne on the south shore of Nova Scotia. My father worked in the woods as a Game Warden. My mother was a stay at home mom and raised us five children.
We attended an Independent Baptist Church on Cape Island about 30 miles away. Through my mother’s teaching and guidance I trusted Jesus as my own Savior at about the age of five years. It amazes me that a young child can have their sins forgiven and have eternal life, yet educated adults will say no to God’s free gift of salvation.
After completing high school, I went to Fredericton, New Brunswick, to train as a helicopter pilot. It was there at Calvary Baptist Church that I met my wife, Ruth Silver. We were married about three years later. Now thirty years later I can say the Lord has been good and provided for our every need. He also blessed us with three children that have trusted Him as their Savior as well.
In conclusion, may we all heed Proverbs 3:5-6 ”Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
