History

In the early 1950’s, the Lord began to move and prepare the way for the founding of First Baptist Church. Since that first stirring of the Lord, our church has seen the Lord do many great and wonderful things. In Matthew 16:18, the Lord Jesus promised that He would build His church, a church that would prevail.

First Baptist Church was built upon the Rock of Jesus Christ and His Gospel today remains firmly fixed upon that Rock. He is truly our sure foundation. From this foundation, First Baptist Church has sought to be a blessing not only to St John’s and Mt. Pearl, but also to all of Newfoundland through the establishment of other churches of like precious faith. May the Lord continue to bless our church, and make us a blessing, as we seek to continuously write our history for the glory of our Savior.
