You are here"But God"

"But God"

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us"
Ephesians 2:4

Perhaps there are no more beautiful words of contrast than the ones we find here in verse 4, "But God". In the preceding verses, we are reminded of the bleak condition of man apart from God and His mercy. Man by nature is separated from God, enslaved by the world and his own lust, and subject to the wrath of God. How bleak? How hopeless? Then we read the words, "But God".

Christian, have you considered lately the many times God has intervened on your behalf and are you still trusting in Him to intervene? At the bleakest and darkest moment in your life, God in mercy and love intervened. Seeing that God intervened in the bleakest of moments, should we not trust Him in everything? Life is filled with many situations that can cause us to wonder, but as Christians we should be trusting in the merciful Lord to intervene. Maybe you look at your marriage and wonder could it ever be what the Bible says it should be. Maybe you look at your children and wonder if they will ever be willing to surrender their all to the Lord and live as you have prayed they would live. Maybe you think about that neighbor or co-worker and wonder if they will ever repent and be saved. Remember, we were once separated slaves, subject to the wrath of God, but because of God we are now sons sanctified and secure in the blessing of eternal life. Do not miss out on the blessings of the Lord through worry and anxiety, trust in the God who intervenes.
