Say Uncle

I visited my brother in the United States recently and had the opportunity to see my four nephews. I am their only biological uncle and they are the only nephews I have. My wife and I don’t have children, so I was in for a shock. I had not seen them for 2 years, so I was quite excited, as were they. Their ages range from 3 to 11 years, and they all had something for me to do with them. I often heard “Uncle Kirk” from one or more of them throughout the day, sometimes at the same time. There was a simple reason for this, they wanted my undivided attention. I’m not young, so as the visit progressed, I needed to sleep more, including taking naps. This reminds me of the verses in Psalm 121:2-4, “My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” This is a wonderful promise and truth to delight in. We cannot tire God out, no matter how many requests we make of Him, even though multitudes of His children are asking at the same time, He hears us. He keeps us. That is the difference between humanity and God’s divine omnipotence. We can’t wear Him down, He is always faithful to us. He always hears our calls to Him in prayer. Proverbs 15:29 says, “...he [God] heareth the prayer of the righteous.” Rejoice in this promise today.
