"Turkish" and Other Delights
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Psalm 40:8
What do you delight in? I have to admit that "BIG TURK" Turkish Delight bars are one of the fond memories of my youth. Getting one at the corner store, especially during the summer, and taking the time to suck the chocolate off until it all melted and then just enjoying to the fullest the purple colored "Turkish Delight" of the bar was just fantastic. But for the Christian, there must be a greater delight than the things this world affords. The Psalmist states, "I delight to do thy will."
Do you delight in God’s Word? Is the Word of God a sweet experience for you? Psalm 1:2 states that the godly man’s "delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night." Do you delight in fellowshipping with His people? In being in His House? When you get up on Sunday are you looking forward to being blessed by God as you go to church? Hebrews 10:25, "Not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another." Do you honestly delight in God, and in His never failing provision for you and your family? We are commanded to "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thy heart." Psalm 37:4
There is a blessedness that follows the one who delights in God. Psalm 112:1 states, "Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments." Oh that we would make God and His Word our greatest delight.
