Thankful at Thanksgiving
I Thessalonians 5:18 “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
We were reminded during the services yesterday of the importance of giving thanks. We are to be continually thankful with a truly grateful heart as we consider what great things our God has done for us. We have this special time each year to come together and be reminded that we should take all of our daily blessings with gratitude instead of for granted. But thankfulness for God’s blessings towards us should be uppermost in our hearts and minds year-round, not just on this special holiday in October, or if you are an American, in November. God specializes in giving us good things, He supplies our needs and keeps His promises. When we begin to realize the bountiful blessings we are recipients of, we cannot help but praise God for His goodness and mercy towards us. God has been so good to us, and He takes such good care of us. These blessings that we enjoy are the result of God’s divine nature, He does good towards and blesses those that love and obey Him. “Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” Psalm 106:1 We are reminded to count our blessings, to be thankful for our God’s provision, and to praise Him for his faithfulness.
“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” II Corinthians 9:15 Remember to give thanks to our glorious God who gave us His Son. He reached out and gave the ultimate gift that should cause us to be full of thanks both now and forever.
As you gather together with family and friends today, be sure to give thanks for all the good things God has done, He deserves your thanks and praise.
